So, you are looking to build a new commercial building and have no idea where to start. There are tons of different materials, costs, construction techniques, and everyone is telling you something different. We are here to help alleviate some of the confusion that comes with starting a new commercial construction build. One of the starting questions you will inevitably run into is whether to use the red iron bolt building process or if the weld-together method will be the process that better serves your needs. At Reel Steel Construction Inc., operating in the great state of Florida, we specialize in red iron buildings, not to be confused with its counterpart red iron weld buildings, which we do not operate. We do not do garage kits or residential units as our PEMB (pre-engineered metal building) types cater to the construction business’s commercial side. While it is up to you which type of build you want to take on, we here at Reel Steel Construction Inc. are ready to help you decide whether red iron buildings will be the best fit for you.

Red Iron Bolt Buildings

What sets Red Iron buildings apart from the weld-together versions is that they are pre-manufactured, meaning that the specifications are sent to the manufacturer. The manufacturer measures, cuts, and combines the buildings right there in their warehouse. They ship these pieces to the construction site, where they are then assembled. The construction involves a network of steel I-beams spanning the width of the building. These beams are put into place by pinning them to concrete foundations in the ground. While red iron buildings are more costly upfront, they are extremely durable and generally cost less in the long run as they need fewer repairs. Another advantage of this commercial construction style is that it needs no support pillars in the middle because the concrete piers holding the I-beams are situated on the outside. There are no dimension parameters. The bigger the structure usually means a discount in cost per sq ft. If you are looking for a big build that will last a long time, red iron buildings should be something you investigate.

Weld-Together Buildings

Weld-together buildings differ from red iron buildings in a few different ways. First, weld-together buildings are not premanufactured; they are cut and fit on site. This construction style means that the cost of the build is cheaper upfront and cuts down on delivery cost because everything is not already fitted when shipped. As the name portrays, the weld-up buildings are built by permanently welding all the steel beams together; this can cause a lack of durability compared to other commercial building types.

Which One Is Right For Me?

If you are looking to have a building that is pre-manufactured to your specifications, shipped, and constructed for durability and minimal construction time, red iron bolt buildings are going to be for you. Adversely if you are looking for a cheaper alternative and have the building put together on-site, weld-together buildings should be your preference.
